When I insure my cars with Hagerty, one of the questions they ask is if it has any performance upgrades. I've never bought a caged car so I'm not sure if that would count but I suspect it would. What I do know is that non-disclosure to the insurance company means you could be paying for non-insurance if you ever have a claim. They have never required pics from me.

All my caged cars have been insured. I sent them great pictures, showing the obvious cages....no issues.

That's why I switched to Grundy. Less hassles and restrictions. They were also cheaper. Grundy knows exactly what my cars are....and are insured for agreed value.
We have 10 units insured with them, with their MVP plan.

it's about them finding out after the incident, when you've told them the car isn't modified other than what was listed, and they wash there hands!

That I understand but i wonder just how many insurance contracts cover that language in their policies

Yeah, the insurance deal can be frustrating. I sent in my appraisal along with pictures and videos, and received no negative feedback regarding the cage. I agree, some companies won’t insure a car with a bar and I also agree, severe head injuries and death can occur in certain situations where there is no helmet in conjunction with a cage. As for a cage being a “performance enhancement”, I think it’s more of a safety item required for racing than something that enhances vehicle performance.

Hagerty sucks. My buddy's wagon was stolen over the summer and found that night torched. Burned to the ground. He has been battling with Hagerty for like 4 months and they have sent 3 different investigators to interview him, search his home, garage and property thinking he has something to do with the theft!!!! He has Ring door bell camera footage of whoever stealing it while he and another buddy were in the garage. They unfortunately didn't hear a thing as whoever stole it.
