Howdy from Texas!! My name is Blake. I had some customers when I worked at a western wear store who told me about this car sitting behind their parents house. Said her dad bought it brand new. That was ten years ago and I said to make sure they called me first. Kept up with them from time to time. Had not heard from them for at least five years. Never got to see it or really get much info on it until September of this year when they finally called me. 69 Dodge Charger 318 auto with AC Green on green on green. Everything looks original. It has been sitting since 1985. I was born in 1985 I rescued it and it is now sitting in my shop next to my 1990 D250. I’ll post more info as I can. I am really excited to have my dream car. It is sexy even in its current state. Here are some pictures.
Obviously I am here to learn as much about these cars as I can. I love Mopar cars and trucks. This car was bought new in Hearne Texas at K&B Dodge in 69. He paid cash fresh out of the service. He brought his daughter home from the hospital in it as well. He stopped driving it in 1985 according to the plate. Window Sticker says 84.
I called several towing companies to help get it out of there and they all said no. Finally the owners of the car gave me a fellow who towed for the sheriffs department and he showed up. The tires held some air for a little bit. It was sitting in sand and I had to jack it up to hook his chains to the axle.
I also have the original title in the first envelope. The man had passed away but his wife found everything.
Bienvenido desde México !!! Welcome to the madness, just a question on your way home, how many people try it want to buy your "new car" I bet more than one, congratulations on your charger, several projects here, check the members and restoration area truly come amazing cars there
Welcome from the frozen north of Canada. Cool story and a net car...congrats! I'd want to get that dealer decal recreated for sure! Hope the sand helped the underside of the car, and it's not to rotten.
We got a lot of looks that’s for sure. This car was hidden from the road for 35 years. Otherwise it would have been snatched up a long time ago.
Great news! Our son was born in 1969, bought our 1967 Charger on his first birthday in 1970. Still have the car, very rusty. He would like a 69, but has driven his 67 4 speed a lot of miles after it was done in 2017.
Great score! Don't fall into the trap where you take it all apart for a restoration then get overwhelmed and abandon the whole thing. That happens a LOT. I see some rust holes in a few places. That is to be expected from a classic car that has been outside for 35 years! What did you end up paying for it? I had to pay $5000 for a wrecked '70 Charger. I have a thread going here titled "Lookie what $5000 buys you". I am bringing the car back to life while essentially ignoring the cosmetic aspects of it all. Good luck....Be sure to start your own topic on the car and your journey with it. Check this out...... https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/lookie-what-5000-buys-you.178346/
Congrats! Now, a couple questions if I may: 1. Who is this "baby" to which you refer? 2. How badly is the underside eaten up? Good luck with it!
Welcome aboard and great save! So glad to see another one rescued from a slow death in a backyard. What are your plans for it? More pic's please!
