I have a big block distributor with p/n 3656678 on the tag. How can I identify it?
I haven't looked in years but, Motors Manuals used to list distributor specs by part number. Mike
Shoot me a message with exactly what you need I have all the books on them.
Thank you for the reply. I have a 1972 Road Runner GTX which means it is a 440 car. The car is also a 4 speed. The original engine is long gone and the guy I bought the car from included distributor 3656678. He was collecting what he thought to be correct parts for this car. I don’t want to sink time and money into this distributor unless it correct for my car.
I don't find that number in either of my books. You may need to look at the number closer.
Thanks for looking but that is the number on the tag.
Failed no number match how about some pics?
The tags are embossed. Take a picture of the back side of the tag and I can invert it. The number may be more clear then. It could possibly be a replacement distributor from back in the day that doesn't show up in the part number books.
The number is clear...the blue anodize is really nice. I suspect a replacement might be answer.
That number sequence falls in line with other 1972 distributors.
My parts book shows 3656347.
yup and replacement # 348 think the other on is Canadian, not in any of my books and I have a bunch.
Sounds like you have the best access to info. I’ll snoop around for a ‘347.
