original 318 going to alumhead 440 will I need the big .9dia bars!
thanks, guess we'll try as is, but would probably be easier done while engine out!I changed our old '69 Fury II from 318 to 440 x 4 gear back in '78. No suspension change and it rode fine. YMMV
that would be good if I was in the US but convert to canadian+shipping ouch!I would definitely think about upgrade if everything is out of the way. Our most popular bars that offer are our 1.03"s. With the members discount they are $215 and the shipping is free within the US 48 States.
Thanks

Hi All,
Is there any downside around handling issues if putting the 1.03 bars into a current 318 car?
Would it be be overkill.? will look increase engine size at a later date as funds allow
It may cause a loss in the finances from your egg transport business!

Hey, I was joking but, I have no idea what ride you would find acceptable. It will also depend on your tire choice. That hard Huh?
I agree. In fact I would look there first. An upgraded adjustable shock. Or even a small coil over would have more impact. Torsion bars are for lateral control. The design idea was to stiffen up roll side of suspension during a turn. Not a bad design considering the era they were introduced. But of course was quickly passed by independent suspension technology. So I guess it comes down to what increase demands? If you are looking to go with wider and more aggressive tire for increased cornering along with motor upgrade? Then yes, I would upgrade. Along with other associated suspension parts. Not to mention if you go with a taller tire or upgrade to 15" rims? Even if just to the rears. They will add more body roll. Thus more stress to the bars. (At least this is what I have experienced playing around with tire combos.)Every customer that I have spoken to after installing our 1.03" torsion bars describes them as giving the car a modern ride quality that is firm but not harsh in anyway. The other item that you should look at is your shocks as they are the main determiner of overall ride quality.
Thanks
