Borgeson for the Black Sabbath. (68 Charger)

I didn't shim mine. There is an angle but I don't mind, neither does the steering wheel.

The shear pins just fell out when I took the column apart. Time to make some new ones.

Believe me, I wouldn't shim mine if I thought the column would line up with the steering box.

It's possible my new kmember is that badly misaligned. It's not going to bother me if I can take the shims out when the kmember is straight. Or that might not be the problem at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Making new shear pins from my kids Lego....and we all know how hard that is.
Yep, Im gonna die.

3.5 inch coupler clamp from Roseville Moparts, originally made by DMT. Works like a charm!

Waiting for the coupler parts I put the column together and added the zerc + paint to the coupler.

If I could make a suggestion. when you put the column back in the car, put a sock over the coupler. Mine got scratched up banging around the engine bay. I'm trying to think of a way to protect the column from the hard edge of the firewall hole too - a way that won't be in the way, because the column gasket is already in the way enough. I don't know the proper name for it, but there's a round foam insulation like a pool noodle (but not as big), with a cut down one side of it, so you can slip it over things. Maybe that's available in a good size for the firewall hole.

Got the roseville parts and the roseville shoes does fit the coupler perfectly.

Pressed out the rod to put the new seal on.
Also decided to clean up my original seal clamp and use it. It is a bit smaller and has some nifty shapes to the clamps.

Pulling the shaft through the bearing I just cut a correct sized metal pipe to the right length (45mm) and use the nut/washer for the steering wheel.

And for future reference.
When everything is correct in the column the distance from the bearing to the measurement hole is 12,3cm.

Who landed on the moon?

And a correction:
If your shear pins are ok then there is no chance that the shoes can leave the coupler.

I decided to install the coupler first and then guide the column in. This way I could adjust for binding.
I used a strap over the column bracket to let the column hang like in a swing.
From here I could slowly guide the shoes/spring into the coupler while adjusting the placement of the column at the same time.

On the coupler I tapped the hole and added a screw instead of the pin.

Installing it this way the zerc really comes into use.
