Mostly together now.
I'll order pushrods tomorrow.
I'll probably install engine and trans next week sometime while I wait for pushrods...

I’m curious about what was changed that necessitated the need for new pushrods?

Is the cam position locked out now?
If it’s not top secret, what’s the lsa and installed position?

Deck was cut .005. Pistons were .009 above deck so I went with .054 head gasket. It had .040 previously. Johnson lifters want .035 preload.
Cam is 110 lsa.
Blackbird Performance came out with a billet timing set without the phaser in it so essentially locked out.

Got a little shout out from Geoff Turk at Blackbird Performance.
Finally got the car up and running again.
2 attempts at racing this weekend were rained out.
Try again next weekend.



My mention is about 7.30 minutes in if you just can't wait to hear...

Finally got out to the track on Sunday. Not a single test pass since everything that went on.
Not going to lie, the nerves were plentiful.
First pass, took it easy. Went 9.96 @132.
Verified actual timing with the computer and found that I had 15° actual timing when I had set computer for 22.
I bumped it up a couple degrees for next pass and went 9.85@ 133.
Left it alone after that to see if there was finally consistency.
Yup, finally after chasing ghosts for 2 years, I got a 9.84 and 9.83 after that.
Went for round 3 and wouldn't start.
No big deal, wire burnt on headers. Bad routing on my part.
Packed it up, had a beer and went home happy.
I think I have a bracket car again...
 
Oh yeah,
One more thing...
Had an annoying tick from when I first put the engine back in the car.
Pulled valve covers when I went to race in Florida in March and didn't find anything.
All header bolts were tight.
Lying under the car over the weekend rewiring starter, I see carbon on front of the head.
Evidently , the builder got wrong header gaskets.
I think they're for a 5.7 with egr.
When I redid the motor, the gaskets stuck to the headers and I just reused them.
Never thought to look at that when I put it back together.
Anyway, new gaskets are in.
Hopefully weather is good on Saturday so we can finally get to racing here...
