Break in oil??

Not for 1970, you're right the purple cam was great, this isn't 1970 anymore why would you want something that is missing 40 years of performance advantages?

Take a look at old school vs all the new performance advantages now

because it is what it was...that's the point of it for me.

i have a modern car that has infinite variable valve timing and adaptive 4-wheel drive...super efficient and very modern, but that doesn't mean i want it in my Plymouth.

i've never had the pleasure of breaking in a cam, but i use valvoline VR-1 (non-syn) 20-50 cuz it has the highest zinc content i could find.

not horribly expensive...i've found it on da intranet for bout $6 a quart.

Thx for all the helpful info and I should be able to use it within a week...

I was talking to a mechanic and he said during breakin you should have it in 2nd gear-and at a higher 2500+ rpm...

What do you guys think- I know my tranny guy said to have it in neutral and add oil in until full first...opinions?

2nd gear...lol..what does that do for the engine except put a load on a motor being broke in..park/neutral....2500 rpm is fine
