Buyer Beware - Rick Ehrenberg

RT Man,if the engine is still out of the car, could you please examine the block for some machine shop stampings to determine if in fact it does have a job number from Vignogna Racing.I would like to clarify that question.

Thank you,,,,,,Al Levine

"I told Rick in recent emails that I don't think the bores got rusty while he had it."
"July 2018 - Upon teardown, mechanic doesn't see anything amiss on the cylinders, rings still shiny on the edges. I tell Rick looks good inside."

I reckon that would have been it for me if I was the seller, especially after a year +. Just sayin'.

To me the cylinder had rust in it for a while (years). Even if he borescope it, it still could have bin missed. Not to many people today but there motors in right away thats for sure. If Rick guaranty the engine was good he should have done something to help. Anyone that states I am in My V code Road Runner right now driver across country right is a pompous a*s! Who cares what you're driving(Right there is a red flag). He is just a middle man that buys from other venters that doubles the price if not more. I had an issue with him, a package was damage and was rebagged from the post office with a note on it that it was damage from the post office check for lost or damage items. I contacted Rick and he did not believe me even after I sent him picture of the package. He was not a nice guy to me at all. That was the last time I bought from him. That's when I looked into what he sells.
You are yet another example of a customer that expects someone else to protect you from bad luck.
WHY should a seller be responsible for damage after he ships the part? If the USPS or whatever shipper damages it and repackages it, how the hell is it the sellers fault?
Also...PROOFREAD before you post.

Why? Because he is the guy who needs not to be a dick as he is the shipper and needs to file the claim to help HIS customer...

The problem was he did not even believe that it got damage in the first place. He is arrogant person thinks he is better than anybody else. I been is sales for 30 plus years would never treaded anybody the way he does. The way I do business even it wasn't anything to do with me I would try to help in anyway I could.

To reply to a few recent posts:
- Jimi, I'd prefer to keep my mechanic out of this. He's in central MA and has a loyal customer base. For that matter, there's someone on Rick's side who is remaining nameless who Rick said has a dog in this (and its not your father).
- Hemi-Itis and Jimi, I'd be happy to look for your machine shop markings/job number on the block. Where were they put? Do they start with letters or numbers? Would you/your father have stamped it 40 over?

This thread has been thoughtful. Good input, whether you believe infallibly in Rick's position, are neutral, or see that a seller has a responsibility to try and make a customer satisfied, even though they did not directly cause the issue (which I never thought or said Rick did).

Thanks

I sent my mechanic an email to look.

Some may have a tendency to tilt toward a side, but I think everybody is interested in the truth. Any allegations should expect to be challenged, and supported, not just accepted at face value.

Because the way this went down I prefer NOT to say where the markings are,but they would be on the block AND heads using numbers, letters and the date would also be part of it.When and IF you find these stampings will help clarify this muddy road.
I just don't understand how Lou was thrown into the mix and the recent known parties are being protected. That don't sit right with me.

I have No dog in this fight. My take is that this drama filled adventure was handled completely inappropriately by the Creator of this thread. What a bunch of bullshit. I live in central Taxachusetts if I can be of any ASSistance.:nutkick:

I understand his anger and fustration and do stupid **** at times also.Asspecially when fighting
ALI-ASSES!!

I've been following this thread with interest and have no dog in this fight, as others have said. Wow, I NEVER thought I'd comment on it, but isn't this statement also true about Rick Eghrenberg (and now the Vignognas)? You sure put his name out here for all to see, so why not your mechanic's as well? Seems to me that once you went public with all of this here you should let it all hang out. I'm not taking sides, just seems to be a double standard in this regard. Just my .02 cents from the peanut gallery.

Someone else brought up Lou's name, I just confirmed that's who Rick said built it. I'll apologize again if I implied anything about Lou or Jim Vignona or their engine building skills. I cannot confirm if they built it or didn't.

Well,,,,,,,waiting to see if any stamping are found and what Rick has to say.Let him explain where the engine was for a decade.I do feel for RT as he was taken advantage of.If I were selling an engine I would offer to remove the pan and the heads if the buyer desired.RT took Ricks word because of his rep......................:(
