Buying a Work Truck

I'm not seeing how some people are getting 20+ mpg with a Cummins. The best my 99' 2500 4x4 TCD has gotten was 15, unloaded with just my dad and myself.

What kind of gears do you have? I have had three other Cummings truck that would get between 17 and 19 but they had 3:73 gears. My new one has 3:42

Pete has overdrive in His 2004 4x4 & it get's over 20 mpg on fwy consistently,,,never under unless pulling heavy load.

Oh well, it runs great and does what I need. So I'll take the poor mileage and move on.

Well ,my 2003 2500 gets 22-25 highway open trailer doesn't effect it much maybe one mpg full loaded trailer I'm still getting 19-21 mpg I love this ol gal ,she's a 2003 2500 hd 5.7 hemi hd auto and the hd dana! So in the first few years of this style truck dodge did some goofy things since the Germans bought them out . So I've had my rear rebuilt I'd didn't take any dana kits off the shelf the bearings in this beast were huge not to mention the suspension was 1 ton parts numbers.... I guess my rear was a hybrid from Mercedes big truck decisionv and dana. It took a mouth to get these parts . My truck is a bad *** it will haul anything and get good mpg I go down the highway at 75 mph and only doing 2500 rpms! And to add to how great my truck is ,it's only got 96xxx miles on it . I had both heads rebuilt new springs band valves ect (was a know problem with this generation hemi) I had one brake and decided to do them all! Along with most everythingb under the hood like injectors coils ect. New tires and upgraded brakes for towing! There's more but I figuredb you all get the jist. I am telling you this because I'm selling my truck for $10000 . I can't get in and out with my bad back! I know its not new but most everything has beenv replaced on it already. Then you'll have cash left over to buy a new toy

If you only knew how tickled I would be with 15 try 8 unloaded.
