Change converter?

Did I read in post #7 that you have a Chevy LS series engine in the car? Please let that be a typo....
If so, WTF is happening nowadays?

Dont feel bad dude, we all have to start somewhere. There was a time when I couldn't even do an oil change. After buying a craftsman set and reaching out to learn as much as possible i ended up working in a garage a few years later. Its an awesome learning experience...
 
The idle speed is way too low.

800-900 in neutral with a cam like that.

The factory “high stall” converter used behind the HP 383’s and 340’s would be fine.

A more performance oriented distributor advance curve(compared to what would have come with the OE distributor) would also help.
Dont have the knowledge to answer all but a holley 770, XE268H compcam about 500 idle in neutral, dont know what speed in gear tho atm. dont remeber the initial timing
The idle speed is too low, and you may want to check for a vacuum leak.
