Changing center section and now axles are touching...

You could also trim the axle, it's not going to hurt the axle, if you go that alternative then only remove what you need, so if it's pushing the axle out .250 then remove .135 a side
 
That is the direction I'm headed. I'm gonna put the pumpkin back in, measure how much the axles push out and cut accordingly. I'm going to have a machine shop do the work so that they are cut precisely and slowly. Thanks for the help guys!
 
Just to follow up for future reference... I measured the amout the axle was being pushed out the other side and came up with .300 so I took the axles to a machine shop and had .170 cut off of the end of each one. $62.00 to cut. Installed the axles, tightened them down and all is well. End of problem.
