B-bodies got the door beams in 1973.

The door beams are a stamped sheetmetal piece that essentially offers no more protection than not having them. My friends 73 Road Runner took a side impact hit and faired worse than the Charger in this thread. The door beam was useless. If anyone would have been in the passenger's seat,they would have been closed casket dead!
