Coats 10-10/Atlas "wrist breaker" problem solved
Thought I'd share this.
I can't believe the company never thought of this.
After it almost got me the other day, I decided it was time to put a plan in place that I'd been kicking around in the back of my head....
It's a simple 1/4 hitch pin through a hole I drilled about 1/2" down on the main rotating shaft.
It keeps the bar in place so you don't have to hold it, thereby eliminating the chance of the bar kicking back or jumping forward while you're keeping it engaged on the bead.
Seems to work just fine.
Interestingly, I operated one of these dozens of times in a given day back in the 80's when I was 16 years old.
I never had one bite me at all, ever.

...and i learned that the harbor freight "nitride" drill bits are junk.
Burned through three of them and barely scratched the metal. Thought it might be hardened tool steel...
Went to Lowes and bought DeWalt "cobalt" (not Kobalt), and they did fine.
