Confused about alternators.

Sorry if this is redundant. My 68' Charger is stock. I need a new alternator. What was the stock amperage? Was it 60 amps or lower? Any suggestions on a good brand for a stock 2 wire car?

I want to say 46 amp maybe. Somewhere near that. No more than 65. You could have yours rebuilt

The casing cracked a little. My wife overtightened the lower bolt and it cracked. 45 amp ones aren't to expensive. Not sure how ld this one is also.

My original ones were 37 amp. I think ac cars got the 46 amp model?

I replaced it with what I was told a 55 amp. Runs nice now. There was a guy there who took a look at my old one and told me that it was the original one that came in these cars. I asked how he knew it and he said by the numbers on it. Not sure if he knew what he was talking about but I will keep it just in case. It still works fine just need to fix the lower bolt area.
