I've had a few of them and they are balanced by the harmonic balancer and the flywheel The 70 model used a special clutch and flywheel. The fly wheel was balanced for the 6 pack and if you replaced the 6 pack with an internal balanced 440 it would really rattle your teeth. 6 packs were not just a 440 with 3 2 barrels tacked on they had a different baseline circle camshaft the 3 bolt, the heads were worked, the rods and pistons were matched sets, it was a factory built clean up like a Superstock 413 was.
I never understood why they didn't put max wedge heads and the same ported intake on them and use a center 500cfm for them. It is easy enough to get the stuff. machine a little and put a rio on it to add the needed shot to convert a standard 500 to the manifold but it is a little touch and go for the air cleaner sealing. The problem I have with the 70 setup is the CAST IRON intake makes the setup pretty heavy to set in place in an in frame teardown.
