Cooling Issue?

Doubt it's a collapsing lower hose because it runs cool at speed.

You only get to 250*.......if your rad cap is sealing. A rattling rad suggests the pressure cap...is/has lost pressure.

The fan half in/half out myth. On another forum, a member [ a pilot, who flew small planes for a hobby ] did extensive testing of fans in & out of the shroud. He found no discernible in operating temp....
What may people miss is the gap between the blade tips...& the shroud. Obviously, if that gap gets too big, you may as well not a shroud because it does nothing.
I did many mods to the cooling system on my car such that with a 180 stat, the temp toggles between 180-185 in all conditions. I use a shroud. One of the things I did was get a bigger diam fan; I trimmed the blades so that I had about 3/4" blade to shroud clearance to make the shroud work. In my case, I believe it was a number of mods that I did which, combined, keeps the temp stable not matter what the traffic/weather conditions are like.

I took out my 440 Charger today which was a hot day..I drove the car today, and when I was in traffic, the temp gauge went to 220, then just over to the next mark. Maybe 230? The coolant was completely topped up when I started the journey..I went to have some tracking done and the car was off for about 30 minutes...when I started it again it still read 220..If I'm moving at a decent speed, it goes down to about 190... Is it running too hot? Or is that about right or could the gauge be faulty..
Same problem here. It was suggested that I swap in a 185 stat so it will open sooner. No problems since then.

Note that the stat temp rating is the opening temp. A 180 stat may not be fully open until 200-210*.

I am looking to go with a Cold Case Radiator for better cooling and probably get my original one recored..I think that's probably the issue..Has anyone fitted a Cold Case Radiator?

If you switch to an aluminium radiator, make sure your engine coolant is compatible with aluminium.

It's the stock fan and Radiator
It drops to about 190 when it's on the motorway but otherwise stays at 220..The fan is working properly..I noticed today after I turned it off for 10 minutes and restarted it that the gauge hadn't dropped and still red 220
hah, there`s a guy on here that says he`s an engineer and stock cars don't have cooling problems !!!

agree, got mine down to 3/8 to 1/2'' , maybe a hair less >(motor plate )
