I have a good (needs rebuild) mopar power steering gear box left over and I don’t want to throw it away. They are almost impossible to find as a reman. Where can I take it and donate?
If you take it to a junkyard or auto repair shop, both of which have core buyers come in, I think it would probably just end up as scrap weight. If Dorman sells them as remans, it might get to them through a parts store. If you really wanted it to remain in the loop, I would think dropping it off with Firm Feel or Steer & Gear or another vendor at a major Mopar event would work best.
I sent two of them to Steer and Gear years ago. Shipping was much less expensive then.
You could call them and see if they would cover the shipping. It would keep 1 more in circulation for someone else to use.
I'm sure one of those steering box places would be glad to take it off your hands. Just give em a call and ask the question, heck, you may even get a check from them for the contribution? Good luck
