Different ways to pull the engine

For what you're doing, out the top. I've done it numerous times by myself in a short time with an engine hoist and leveler. I don't know why most people I see pulling an engine still use a carb plate adapter when an engine leveler is under $40.
The only reason I see that out the bottom is better would be during a restoration. Seems like re-doing the alignment and bleeding brakes is just extra time, effort and expense wasted.

Because you can hang the calipers so no re bled. You can take it off at the upper ball joint and leave the upper on the car so no alignment needed. Only hard part was undoing the steering shaft.

Anyone else ever pull a bigblock without a picker/lift/chain hoist etc?? It can be done , but you need 4 dudes. And not be scared of walking on the fenders LOL
We put a 383 shortblock on the backseat area on the floor of my brothers 75 Monaco.
I was a whole lot stronger back in the day...

Never done it that way but it seems to be a cleaner way of doing it. I was looking for feedback on folks who have done
the K frame method ?
Worked for me....

Had a neighbour build the frames to my drawings and it was easy. I used that frame a few times over the years.

Last time around I dropped the k-frame and reinstalled it the same way. Since I was planning to have the k-frame powder coated, it seemed to make sense to do it that way. Being able to reinstall the engine with everything bolted on (including the headers) is a game-changer...

My 440 installed itself lol, when I was swapping in my 440 I had it sitting on the mounts, 727 was in it with a jack under it and raised up to the tunnel.
The engine was on the cherry picker and every frigging thing was a 1/4" off, locate studs for the bell, mounts on the engine lacked just a bit from sliding over , I was by myself , pry bar , beer , ect cussing. Lol.
Said F it and went in the house for dinner, came out after and that thing had slipped into place,
Sitting on the mounts, bell was on the block.
Picker must have leaked down a bit I don't know , funny as he// , glad my fingers were not in the way.

Back in the late 80's the engine in my '64 Dodge went into the trunk of my '73 SSP. It was floating down the highway to the machine shop. I put it in there by myself in pieces but it took a few more to lift the block out!!
