How to Identify the difference between distributor caps
I get asked all the time how come my distributor cap will not fit. There are two types one for the common aluminum case distributor that fit both point and electronic units then there is the dualpoint cap that fits only the cast iron distributor...

The way i distinguish them: single point caps have a spring loaded rotor, and a fixed center contact in the cap.
The dual point (and my cast iron electronic tach drive distributor) uses a fixed contact rotor, and a spring loaded center contact cap.
I just bought a new cap for my tach drive a little while ago. Over $25 for an aluminum contact cap. Last one I bought was better quality cap with brass contacts.... and $8. Times have sure changed FJB!
