Yes, because it's hooked to the front marker lights and they have bulbs in them...

New headlight switch installed…. Was expecting EVERYTHING to work after new headlight and new signal switch….
All working- even the rear taillights.
Keeps blowing the taillight fuse when headlights go on.
So decided to lift 1 fuse at a time to see if I could find the culprit circuit. After blowing 4-5 fuses, when i removed the last one in line, (dash lights/backup lights fuse) BAMM- got my taillights!
So dash light issue or reverse switch issue….
PS: haven’t tried reverse lights yet…

Well done working through this methodically. Always hard when there are a multitude of problems. Only way is to solve 1 at a time. You are learning much!

Not sure where to start on these 2 final issues. Hard to tell color of 2 wires heading down to the a833 trans switch for b/u lights.
As far as no dash lights, where would start on those?
Before the dash was installed, i had the seller install LED blue dash bulbs….. beginning to think- can i get that lucky that the car “doesn’t like” the LEDs????
Maybe a switch back to stock bulbs is in order…,.
By the way, turning the thumb wheel up and down on the dash dimmer switch makes no difference

Not sure if this pertains to your issues or not and didn't read everything here...but when I was working on my cluster in my 66 Belvedere when replacing the cluster bulbs, nothing worked right when the cluster wasn't bolted in or grounded. Once the cluster was grounded, things magically worked fine and that's when I realized, the cluster had to be grounded and the mounting screws did just that. It was hard to fathom what all was working crazily when the cluster was pulled away from the dash frame. Don't know if this will help or not but it made me a believer in things needing to be grounded.....
