Dreaded VP44

So far so good with the trans. I think if a person drives it like a human you wont have troubles. Truck just gets driven in the summer now but when it driven it's usually loaded like this.

Congrats on a the job well done!
I have an Edge Comp ( running on 60hp) box with the 75 hp injectors with an auto, I've replaced the lift pump and 2 hubs...350k

Hubs are after taxes, conversion to the Dynatrac system.

It gets rid of the unit bearing and goes to a Timken set up. Also you'll have to get out and lock the hubs manually if you need 4 wheel drive. Also a benefit is better mileage due to the fact the hubs are not constantly turning. They are turning all the time even though you have it in 2 wheel drive.
If a unit bearing goes out, your front tire could pass you up and cause all kinds of damage. Just best to replace when ya can. The conversion is around 1800 bucks.

Mid year '98 is when they switched to 24V and the VP44.
I have a '98 12V Quad Cab. It's a bit rare cause with the QC it should have a 24V. Only wish it was a manual. I've put a 210hp 610tq cam plate in the injection pump at 20,000 miles. Truck has 200,000 plus on it with the stock trans. (knock on wood)View attachment 355638
Yes, Reid, you have the rare and highly sought after 12 valve quad cab - nice truck!

I'll check it out!

The TDR does have an online forum along with the publication and for a yearly fee you get both.
So far the only thing I've done to my 97 is drive it and did the KDP right after I got it. I made my own tab instead of buying the kit. My rear gears are shot though @ 140k miles. It's done a lot of pulling plus I'm sure it's done too many burnouts lol. The tires that were on it when I bought it rode like crap so I fried them. Yeah, it's low miles but most of them are working miles.....and did I mention burnouts....

Rolling coal, huh Cranky?!

It is a waste to "roll coal", but I do find it rather pleasant when someone next to you has a stereo system worth more than the car and you just tip into the throttle a bit.

I've never tried to spin my tires. Knowing my luck, I'd break something.

Off idle, mine will move and then slightly spin and goes pretty well but if I bring up some rpm against the brake from a stop....it's going no where but up in smoke! Best pass at the track out of 4 was an 18.22. A blaze of fire lol but just couldn't get any traction and the more I tried the worse the times got. And the trucks are pretty tough with a decent trans and a heavy duty Dana 70.

Ordered an ISSPRO fuel pressure gauge and should be Tuesday. Also going to get new filters for my FASS lift pump. Now I'll need to find the time to install everything as I'm working on 2 1965 Coronet Super Stock grilles at the same time. And I lost a few days when the truck went down, but the members were told and are cool with it.

Just installed the ISSPRO gauge this afternoon and it's 12 psi at idle and around 10-11 at wot. I'm not convinced this filters need to be changed as they have 10k on them, but I'll order some anyway, (FASS Titanium 150gph pump).
What do you guys have for fuel pressure?

Well I guess I spoke to soon. Yesterday after coming home early because my wife's mustang wouldn't start ( 6 mo old optima red top had 8.7 volts), her maxima was already in the shop for a stupid coil pack that you have to tear off the top of the motor to get to... mine would not start.... Threw the p-0216, Injection Timing Control Malfunction... I was too tired to mess with it a whole lot... I guess I'll check my psi tomorrow....
He's anyone every had three vehicles **** the bed all at once...???....WTH????
I figured my luck couldn't be all bad so I went and bought a Powerball ticket tonight! LOL!
