Drinking more because of high fuel prices?

I rarely drink since my father's heart ordeals
a couple of years back
I don't really miss it, saves me some decent money too
every so often I do think about

My dad is an alcoholic & in denial, he would drink if I allowed it in my house
even after being told several times, by all his Drs
after several incidents/heart attacks & other health bs...
It's all from abusing alcohol (it's getting old too),
from him sitting alone, just getting hammered

His newest condition is 'diverticulitis' a condition in his intestines
now I have to feed him a special diet now too
& his blader doesn't work now,
so he has to have a 'foley catheter'
for the rest of his life
along with a bout of 'stenosis' was what put him in the ER this last time
on an RV trip to Arroyo Grande/Pismo Beach area
(brought on by excessive alcohol abuse/drinking his swollen liver & blader
both enflamed & putting pressure on his lower-spin, excruciating back pain
all caused by a 3 week of alcohol binge on an RV trip last March/April
)

He orginally had 'Cardioalcoholmyopathy', when he was 82 (IIRC)
from 60+years of a qt. of booze a day/or more, boozing...
He also still claims/claimed he didn't have an alcohol problem...
Back a couple years he had to have a
'quadruple bypass & a valve was replaced'
a couple of years back, afterwords it took more than 6 months of rehab
for him to walk again
after them having to keep him medically induced & under,
from shaking like crazy in detox, afraid he split the chest staples, other interior stiches
'from the withdrawals from/of alcohol'...
His body had to relearn, to walk, speak, eat & gain strength back again,
he's weak as hell still...
It affects my life now, since I'm his caregiver & have been for about 15 years now...

It ain't worth it

so I just don't have it here
I'd rather him stay off the stuff, than me be on it
such is life

I still drink rarely, I do have self-control, I don't drink to get drunk
I like the taste & I will usually only do it socially, never alone
& just not around my dad or when he's not around
I may have one with my neighbor, or a beer here or there
or one with my Aunt or my cousin upcountry etc.
but;
since dad's with me constantly, I rarely imbibe/partake anymore...

I'm alone but don't just sit and drink. I'm always doing something. Having a couple of beers now but I'm cleaning up my diesel plus ran some errands earlier....cleaned my red neck pool and refilled it and took a dip and now I'm back working on cleaning the dang Hummer H2 chrome wheels. Been awhile since cleaning on that thing and it needs it. Already thinking about another dip in the RN pool. 99 degrees out here as I type.

Knob Creek barrel Pick is a beautiful thing.

Drinking more because of high fuel prices?

Let's see, put gas in my truck or buy beer?

Bought a six pack today... $7.99 :drinks:

I do work for some major wine/sprits producers and what they say is, "when the economy's good..alcohol sales are up...and when the economy's bad, alcohol sales are up!"

I home brew and the more common beer refills cost about $10 a gallon.

Cheers!
