dustless blasting the before

the area is set up in the storage area. I got the 64 up on the lift wheels off and ready to blast in the morning. the 185 cfm. compressor will be here early tomorrow morning. so here's the underside the before blasting. the blast hose is about 2" od. with a 1/2" nozzle. the hose is like wrestling a python! no telling yet how much air pressure will make it act :headbang::headbang::VB toast:

You're going to do it with out taking it apart? DON"T DO IT. BAD NEWS. Media will be stuck in everything. You'll be lucky if the top mechanism ever moves again. Also with out sealing the roof your will have media everywhere in your shop. I've blasted 2 cars at home. One inside completely sealed and apart. One outside and completely apart. It's still a mess

the bottom is the only thing being blasted in this area the rest is outside. it's in the storage area. that's what brooms and vacuums are for I ain't worried about it

I almost want to laugh, or cry! You see, I've done a few cars in my day, and as it's been said here, this is a messy job. If this is your first time -- and spent a lot of money on a compressor/blast system for a one-time use? Sounds like you didn't get good sage advice! And, you would have been spending your time better if you took the entire car apart, sent the body and parts out to have them professionally blasted, as I said, don't know whether to laugh or cry!

well the mess stayed within the tarps! it took 7 min to blast all 4 wheels(sorry no picts. today no camera it's with someone else) picts tomorrow. it went well. with the stuff I had to blast I was at it for 8 hrs. not stop. if it were me it wouldn't be a big unit like this. the blast hose is 2" dia. it's heavy and your running at 120 psi. the rest of the car was done outside but the under carriage was on the lift

there were 9 50# bags of media because I did some other things @ $10.00 a bag 50# bag the compressor was a 375 cfm. because of the size of the blaster. the rental was over $ 350.00 for the day plus fuel, customer paid all it's his blaster but I would not have one that big. I'm happy with my old blaster. with the media and water I felt like I was in a pig pen filled with water and I was wrestling a pit of pythons because of the 2 " od. hose at 120 psi. 8 hrs. worth!!

120psi, you do know that that's darn right dangerous to any and all sheetmetal right? Water is super dense, and super hard, yes, hard! And water weighs a lot per volume. Sounds like you had fun playing.

the car owner got the unit + 350.00 for the compressor and i'll take my little Skat blast unit over it all day long it took all day to clean the mud residue off the car! to me i'll do it dry from now on. thank god I didn't have any money invested in it it's a lesson well learned there is more clean up doing dustless than regular blasting because it turns to mud until it dries it SUCKS!!!!
