I had my dash frame blasted and epoxy primer painted. It's fully cured, and there are a few areas I need to repair with some filler. What is the proper grit paper to prep the surface prior to filler and next coat of high build primer?

Thanks,

Craig

I use DuPont/Axalta Epoxy primer, and the directions say no body filler on top of it! Grind the spots and add the filler. After you're done finishing it, prime it with a polyester primer.
Find out what type of primer it is and read the instructions to be safe!

Thanks for the reply. The epoxy primer is a powder coat epoxy primer and the tech sheet just lists out the cure times. The shop said I could scuff it and be fine, but so many conflicting recommendations on the web that I am wondering if I should just strip it down again.

I've had parts powder primed and it is ok to do bodywork, fill and prime over the top of it.

I use the same as I would doing bodywork on anything, 120-80 grit sandpaper, just scuff it, take shine off, but I don't go threw. I have a pair of bumpers I'm waiting on now, I like the powder better on bumpers better than etching primer.

What UGK said. We do PPG DPxx on bare steel then do body work on top of that. 120 is good and don't break through as stated. Then do you build primer and block that put. Sealer then paint.
