Circa 1988 in El Paso, Texas a local AM radio station had a Valentine's Day promotion where certain callers won an invitation only dinner with Selena Quintanilla. We were one of the lucky couples who were selected. Selena was not quite 18 years old at the time. Restaurant was just across the border in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

I'll admit, I've never heard the name, so I looked her up. I'll bet you have some fond memories of that dinner, do you recall what some of the conversation was about?

I cant say I ever have had dinner with a celebrity. I have with a few who thought they were.

But I don't think that counts?

Sat back to back with Mike Tyson at an Italian joint on main street in Catskill, NY.
Didn't even know he was there until we got up to leave. He was with Cus and Mrs. D'Amato. Many years ago, definitely the pre-famous era. Didn't dine with them but a neat memory nonetheless.

Exactly 8 years ago today (ANZAC Day) I had dinner in the same room - Corporate hospitality, as famous Australian TV Presenter, Writer and Food Critic - Matt Preston.
He was gracious enough to have a quick chat with this cheeky Kiwi, and I have a picture to prove it happened.

What a great night it was. Later on that evening I had a chance to catch up with another famous Aussie.... Glenn aka @monroegtx

I had dinner once with Ambassador Henry Cooper and a retired Naval Admiral and another gentleman that were all part of Regans negotiating team with Russia on space and nuclear warfare.

Stopped at an out of the way town during Laconia bike week many years ago. Place was empty except for the table next to u s where Sonny Barger and another guy were seated. Made some small chit chat. He had throat cancer but was still able to speak. On a side note....Tucker Carlson spoke
at his funeral in 2022.

Went to a concert at a local venue. Small place that served food. We were early and grabbed a bite and the guys playing at the show (Gov't Mule) came in and sat next to us. Allen Woody (Allman Bros. RIP), Warren Haynes (Allman Bros) and Matt Abts. This was when They were just starting out. Super nice guys. I remember Warren wanted a baked potato instead of fries or something and the waiter wanted to upcharge him. Hahaha. Anyway....we talked about music and motorcycles.
Later they rocked the place in front of only about 100 people. Noone had heard of them....yet.
Great night.

I have no picture to prove it happened, @kiwigtx, but I was invited to a good job handshake from a man who later became the president. Actually it was William H.T. Bush in St. Louis who was president of Boatman banks that I went to see. He was the youngest brother of former President George H.W. Bush and uncle to George W. Bush. The old man wasn't there, but W Bush was there. In 1984 I helped finish the 5th floor of the bank building and built his conference table in his office and helped with the teller line on the first floor.

Not a meal, but a connection with a future celebrity. In 1992, I attended a conference with my wife in Bar Harbor, Maine. Bill Clinton was holding a campaign rally on Saturday, and we had discount plane tickets that required a Saturday layover. My wife was a rabid supporter. We had seats three rows up in the gallery. When the future president exited the stage, he reached over the first two rows, past my wildly waving spouse, and shook my hand. Like him or not, he was a shrewd politician. He didn't waste time with the folks he'd already hooked. Turned to my wife, and said no question he will be the next president.

On the meal side, I sat in a table next to Tiny Tim a few years later in a restaurant in Ayre, Mass. while opening a truck terminal. Got him to autograph one of our dispatch sheets.

No, but I've stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a couple of times!

Steve Mariot of Small Faces and Humble Pie, shared a beer at the token lounge, along time ago...

Julia Child was one of my customers and I used to go to her house once or twice a year. She never cooked me anything.

Not exactly "with" but "next to". My kid sister and brother, and my parents, were having dinner in the Nugget casino dining room in Sparks, Nevada in 1974 or so. Next to to us was an older couple that had just been seated. The man looked very familiar, and I couldn't help but stare, somewhat. I said "Dad, that's Red Skelton right there!" in a hushed tone. "I going to see!"...before Dad could grab me, I went up to his table and asked "Excuse me, sir, are you Red Skelton?" He looks and says "All my life, son!" and reaches out to shake my hand! I was a bit star-struck and said "Nice to meet you...I apologize for interrupting your evening!" He says "Is that your family?" "Yes, sir." He asks "Do you have plans for tomorrow evening?" "Uhhhh, no, sir" "Well, you do now! How would you like to see my show tomorrow at 7 pm?" "Dad, can we???" We got free tickets! The next night, we had the best seats possible and saw Red Skelton live!

Former Raider coach Tom Flores (we had mutual family friends), Alan Autry, and my favorite...Kristi Yamaguchi. Her sister worked with my mom and we had dinner with the two of them. I was 22 then, I think we were close to the same age...talk about naughty dreams!

Ate lunch with Ashley Judd 1 time years ago. Actress and sister to famous country duo group The Judds. She was in visiting her grandmother, who was still alive at the time working at a local restaurant where the Judds were from about 20 minutes from my house. A lot of famous Country singers all within 30 minutes from where I live. My dads 1st cousin is a pretty famous songwriter locally in Nashville. He’s wrote 1 songs for Alan Jackson, George Straight, Ricky Skaggs and other top 10 songs for Garth Brooks, Diamond Rio and many many more. Dad, him, Ricky Skaggs and Noah Thompson (last years American Idol winner) were all Raised up the same Hollow and Tyler Childers is from the same County. Keith Whitley was raised right up the road from my farm in Elliott, Co, Ky. I mean I could keep going, Chris Stapleton, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Dwight Yoakum, Tom T Hall all come from that little place in Eastern, Ky. I know I’m missing a few.

Me and my bud were at the NASCAR Winston Cup (or was it still Grand National?) race in fall of 1981. We were camping in the infield and had breakfast at the track cafeteria Friday morning I think.

Harry Gant came at sat at our table to eat. Very nice guy.
