FABO

I wish I would’ve seen this thread yesterday. I posted some info I found on a thread about LA engine oil galley plugs that Kern Dog started and I also need info on. What I got was a “brutal and abrasive” response. I guess that’s normal for FABO. So I am just going to stick with the mellow guys!!! Thanks everyone on FBBO for us older guys don’t need the angry drama!!
I responded to Newbomb Turk and stated that his words were brutal and abrasive but I agreed with them. He is a very knowledgeable guy that isn’t one to soften the blow when he states his opinion. Therein lies the rub…if you are a bit smoother with your presentation, you can get your point across even if it is hard for others to accept. I am not always that skilled at maintaining composure and decorum when posting an opposing viewpoint either.
My opinion on the differences between the forums may be wrong but here goes…
The A bodies were the economical cars, the cheapest of the Mopars you could buy. In general, they still are. It is possible that the A body guys feel like many B and E body guys view them as less than whether they do or do not. This may put some A body guys on edge with an inferiority complex that may or may not be justified. If this is true, it makes one defensive and combative when dealing with others, even their own guys. Arguments over there start from the simplest of things.
My topic about oil gallery plugs resulted in one member calling me a retard because I didn’t see it the same and agree with him.
There are some great members there but some jerks too. The site traffic seems to be about 1/3 more than here which may be representative of how many more A bodies were built and still survive today.
I’ve had 33 A bodies but just three B bodies. I love the Duster and 67-69 Dart body styles but the 68-70 Chargers and other B bodies are just so much cooler in my opinion.

Hell back in the day I had many arguments with car guys that’s just part of the love for Mopar’s. I started with a 77 Volare RoadRunner then a 76 Aspen R/T definitely not part of the cool crowd but my pride and joy especially when passing a chebby or a blue oval!!

I like that little Signet vert! 273 4-speed would make it perfect!
The Signet is an original commando car, 8 3/4”, auto, bucket seat console car. It was a steel company executives car, and he was not shy about checking boxes. It’s also for sale for $7500

Funny thing is that I started out with a B body, and didn’t get my first A body until a couple years later. It was the blue 66 Barracuda in my included pictures. It was sitting in a field behind a shop that I built for a friend of mine, and I casually asked about it. It belonged to the former owner of the property, and try as he might, my buddy could not get the old guy to sell it. He gave me a “good luck”, I went up to the apt where the old guy lived and inquired about the car and he bluntly told me $400 and it’s yours. Seemed easy enough, and my buddy said let’s pull it in the new shop and it’s the first car we did there. Sadly, my buddy was killed in a Motorcycle accident before he got to ride in it. But that started me out on a long journey with A bodies.

My buddy Sam, the best mentor a young gun could have. He worked at the Chrysler proving grounds and was an excellent fabricator of cars and motorcycles. I sure do miss that guy!

I think we have a member that could really straighten out the A body guys on green bearings for starters.Lol

I paid under $100 for several 68 to 70 Chargers! Those were the days! Unfortunately even A bodies are getting expensive. My friends son told me at Carlisle last year,he is priced out of this hobby,so I gave him a 71 Charger roller last year.
I too have been priced out of this hobby. Wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean? Btw, it doesn’t have to be a 71, I will accept almost any Charger.

Well....there is a lot more 'Man-love' over at FABO for Uncle Groany...... maybe they all identify with him as an equal.

My friend had the matching numbers engine rebuilt for his 69 Dart GTS 383 4 speed car over the winter. We will be installing the engine back into the car next weekend.

Nothing wrong with A bodies, just the company on FABO. A lot of us are over there to, but like me just lurking.

I was thinking about starting a thread about the Henry's dart on FABO. But now I'm unsure.

There's a new forum section on the LO23 and BO29 cars that interests me, but sort of feel like you.

The build threads that I have seen get good positive feedback on A bodies. I have one for our 65 dart and have got some good comments. Unfortunately, other sections is a mix of good and bad with back and forth banter...which I find exhausting.

If you ask for opinions on what small block is best or what cam to use in a 318, or the like, you will get everyone's opinions. Like in any forum, the "know it all's" answer is the right one according to them and everyone else is a dumb ***.

We can discuss demographics, socio-economic status and experience level between the two sites all day - and they are good and valid discussions - but the differences are stark and the answer as to 'why' is plain; they have a 'cats' thread and we have a DOGS thread! Dogs rule. cat people... well...

They do have a thread entitled "Guns, Dogs and Blades QnA" in the "General Discussion" forum with more than 3,700 posts.

Time for a dog picture!
