Fan Too Close ???

Hey kid, theres a guy over on C Bodies that has several shrouds for $50, they might work on your application..

Thanks Mike but they are for 26" radiators.:( Good price on them for sure!

I've been doing a lot of researching, so much on these fan shrouds that I just drew up what I need and I'm having one made up!

I decided on a particular fan and I just found out it comes with aluminum blades also. So now I'm trying to decide between the two. The aluminum would be lighter but would it hold up as good as the all steel one?

They are rated @ 8,000 rpm

As long as the rivets are good and tight I don't see why the wouldn't....may fatigue after a while...
Personally I would go with the steel, rotating mass is fractional at most, I would think. I would be more concerned about the balance of the spacer and fan...

With the shroud that I came up with, I won't need a spacer.

Agree, aluminum will fatigue before steel a lot of the time, maybe between the two metals and rivets.

Although u wud have less weight on the w/p bearings. I'd go for alum. myself. How many miles is it going to be driven in your lifetime?

$hit happens, then you step in it! Just kidding, I always liked the clutch fan setup for less horsepower being used, but I'm no expert.

Fan blade thru the hood is not pretty either; also saw a flywheel come loose at Dragway 42 one time and end up in package tray by rear window-it was a Ferd so who cares!

Yea, I liked the clutch idea too but I would have had to mount the radiator on the outside of the support! Even with the shortest clutch assembly, and they stay locked up longer than the stock ones so what advantage does that have. I'm telling you, after two days of researching fans, shrouds, ect. I'm ready to sell this one and buy one already done! (Just kidding)
