FBBO cumulative years of Mopar knowledge, experience, passion - Post up your time

47 years. My dad bought a 65 crown coupe imperial in 70. I rode home sitting on the arm rest. My 1st & 2nd cars were 71 challengers. Built a 70 cuda. Now a 68 net. Years ago i bought a rusted out magnum for a winter beater. Paid $ 75 for it. Drove it all winter. Never got stuck. Great heat. Sold it next spring for $125.

I can definitively point to the exact experience that made me a MOPAR fan.
1969, at 7 years old. Riding in the back seat of the new 69 383 auto Roadrunner my LEO dad had bought, he was driving and my mom was in the front seat.
A guy passes us on the interstate speeding and my dad catches him about a mile away. :)
Fast forward to 1978 and the start of my senior year of high school. I'm 16 and I find a bone stock 71 Charger R/T. 440 auto, open 8 3/4 rear. 54,000 miles. $1,700 and a new set of points and plug wires and she was good to go! I changed out the starter motor on my back in the street using the curb to get the front wheels up high enough for me to get under it. By Easter break of 79 I was changing out the head gaskets because I blew one playing with a Porche on the interstate heading to LaPlace for a day of 1320 racing. By the fall of 79 I had set my heart on a 1979 R/T because my Charger was my only car and not as reliable as I needed (or could maintain).
Turns out the lean burn system on the
"E-58 option" police pursuit 360 sucked for "reliability" too.
I love my 70 V-Code 3 pedal Roadrunner I have now. WAY WAY faster than the 71 Charger and I can do what I want with it performance wise (as my budget allows).
My daily driver AND work vehicle? 2017 DODGE Caravan! (The V-6 powered van is probably almost as fast as my stock 79 R/T was)
Here's my old Charger R/T:

Gorgeous Car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which one? Lol.
The Roadrunner I have now is my favorite, although the other 2 were great for a while back then and I'm grateful for the memories of the times I had with them.

32 years of nothing but Mopar for me and counting and I come from an almost all GM & some Ford only Family. I am the only Mopar dude in the family.
My Dad says I bought up every toy Charger & Charger Hot wheels car I ever seen when I was little even before the Dukes of Hazzard came out. I think it was honestly the Bullitt chase scene watching the re-runs as a kid with my Dad that sealed the Mopar Faith.
So much that I have never owned anything else. Last count was in my life time over 40+ something Chrysler products in my ownership have come and gone.
Currently, still have all of these to keep me busy

Bought my GTX in '69 after Nam, then a '68 Dodge Charger with a 318 automatic trans which I then traded in for a '71 Cuda 340, 4 speed. Later a '65 Plymouth Belvedere 1, 6 cylinder 3 speed, lost in a divorce. Next was '67 Plymouth Satelite, 318 auto, it's gone too. Now I have a '65 Dodge Coronet, sharing space with the GTX, being built for the street. That's the best I can do.
Bob :moparsmiley:

Been a Mopar guy since 1975 (really since 1965) when I was able to drive. Collected, restored, raced, many cars over the years. Especially fond of Dodge, old wedge cars and mainly exclusive to big blocks. Had ten 69 Coronet R/T's at one time (kind like those) had a barn full of those hard to find unique parts you could not get back in the day, sold everything (regrettably) It is in my bones to stay.

my first mopar i owned was a 1968 roadrunner in 1985 and have been working on them ever since

From fall of 1970 I wrenched at a Chrysler Plymouth dealer till they closed in 79'. I have owned a MOPAR since 1974, not always the main transportation but always a go to work car/truck.

I was hanging around my dad, brothers and uncles MoPars early on. I was abt 5 when I got to help pack and adjust wheel bearings on our '57 Belvedere. Bought my 1st car (non running/got it running) '55 Desoto Firedome at 13. Now I'm 60...forever MoPar!!
