Did you try any of that slick-ease(?) or some such for pulling wires? Used to use it when making wire conduits on buses. Don’t remember the name, but it was like lard consistency and would slowly evaporate.
Finally time to pull the trigger . . . starting on the New (much anticipated) SHOP - Build

Yoo-hoo - been awhile since we've had an update on the coolest shop being built...
So Sorry - It has been a while - just dreading this Electrical Inspection . . .
Work is progressing - slowly - and it's ALL my fault as I'm dragging my feet with the electrical
due to my fear of the electrical inspection . . . but still making progress on the task
Got all of the lower floor bay work done - and the light outlets . . .
Got this work done on the silo - once I figured out what light that were getting installed . . . They are just Deck
lights - but they hug the wall and thought that prevent them from getting bumped all the time . . . maybe ? ? ?
This is the first light . . .
And the second light getting installed . . . appears that the 6 lights in the kit will work out just fine too !
Working my way up the spiral staircase and really liking the results . . .
And, when it was finished, the view from the top was awesome . . .
Getting dark outside so I checked out the lighting from the shop - happy with the results !
Not all work and no play . . . Obie bumped into this guy and he was not too happy, he went into "protect" mode
and attacked it - had to pull him off the King Snake and prevent him from hurting the guy - he's a very GOOD
snake to have around - and he's a BIG one to boot !
There were a group of these at a local eatery - and they all left together - was only able to get a pic when we
came to a stop - they were all pretty cool !
And - finally got the truck in to work on the bent frame from the accident - when the Toyota Tacoma drove
ringht into the back of the truck on the interstate . . . at least the receiver is now level - not pointing down . . .
And now working on getting all of the electrical circuits into the can and getting all of the circuit breakers
installed to handle them . . . moving along . . .
And working on trying to make sure that the wiring in the shop looks respectable for the inspection too
Yeah - dragging my feet but finally realizing that it needs to get done so I'm pushing myself a bit harder
to get this thing done and just fix anything that was done wrong and move on . . .

Dragging my feet on this electrical Inspection - Learning in the process . . .
This Electrical Inspection has got me worried - but I've finally figured to just bite the bullet
and get this thing going . . .
Researched the process for getting an Electrical inspection scheduled - states - goto this
Website and find your Permit - and request an Inspection . . .
Well . . . there is NO permit to find to request the inspection . . . At the same time, Duke
Power is requesting a LOAD BALANCE sheet be submitted after the Electrician completes it.
Well . . . the Electrician on this project is ME - and I've got NO IDEA how to fill this thing out.
Run across the street to the neighbor who just completed a shop and talk to him . . .
He says - he told the guy from Duke Power he has no idea how to fill it out, and he never did
fill it out - the gut from Duke Power "somehow" made it all happen. So I call the guy from Duke
Power and request him to stop by the house and go over this with me ( like my neighbor did ).
In the meantime - run down to the county Zoning and Planning department office, and stop in
to find out "what do I need to do" now . . . REALLY nice gentleman, talks to me, know that I'm
doing a bucket list item, have built the whole thing MYSELF on my property and that I need a
permit to get power connected - hands me a piece of paper, with all the fields that are needed
highlighted in yellow - fill it out, he types it into the computer - informs me the permit cost is
$130.00 - PAY the fee, have permit in hand, and the Electrical Inspection "could" have been
done on Monday ( I'll be in Florida next week visiting the grandkids ) - so the inspection is
NOW SCHEDULED for Friday - August 1st !
I'm still nervous but also very excited ! ! ! Still trying to get Duke Power figured out yet.

The biggest problem I have seen people make is using a counduit that is too tight for the cable run, and too many bends.
Bends create resistance (friction) when pulling the cables, and the duct being too small will create heat build-up inside over time. Always go bigger than what you think you need..... don't base duct or conduit size on the amount you have in your wallet.
There is also a calculation you need to make called 'Grouping factor' - which means there needs to be a percentage of 'free space' inside the conduit to allow for heat build-up (in basic terms).

Electrical Rough in Inspection was on Wednesday - and it's a pass !
Had a very "interesting" process with this electrical stuff - to say the least. But we're getting closer to the end !
Initially - was told that 4/0 was needed on the Black/Blue phases, and 2/0 on the Red phase - bought the wire,
ran everything from the meter base, to the fused disconnect, then to the panel. Then called in the inspector to
check out everything . . .
He informs me that all 3 of the wires a required to be the same size - look up in his book and tell me that they
all must be 2/0 - and that I also need to be running 4 wires - not 3 wires.
Here's the fused disconnect with the 2 sized wires and the feed to the panel - all wires have been pulled.
Inspector leave and I head to lunch, but stop at the electrical supply and but (3) lengths of 2/0 wire ( already had
(1) of them in place for the red phase . . . Oh boy, there's another $500 worth of copper . . . then off to lunch.
Just about finishing up lunch and the inspector calls me up and tell me that he made a mistake because of the
type of building I have, it's not a house, so the wire size requirements change - so the minimum size is actually
3/0. OH BOY . . .
SO I could but (2) 4/0 and pull them through the conduit, or buy (4) 3/0 and pull them - I chose the later, and
BOY am I glad that I did . . . here they are getting started on the pull . . . laid out . . .
Was such a relief to see the lengths of all the wires getting shorter on the ground and the pulling was proceeding,
and it actually went pretty well . . . more or less . . .
And the panel box gets connected . . .
And the fused disconnect gets connected . . .
This was really cool - walked out of my building (where I work - 3 story brick) and heard a drone - then saw this,
they were pressure washing the side of the building - with a drone - BOY was that pretty COOL !
Other gochas in the process - (not really too bad)
- needed a light above the the doors - upstairs - where a deck will eventually go
- needed to add a weather resistant outlet up where the deck will be
- all the outlets in the shop needed to be swapped over to Tamper Resistant
- all the breakers for the receptacles needed to be changed to GFCI
Oh, 1 more thing:

Reading through the above details and mentally converting American terminology to English, sounds like you have a good handle on the job Larry.
We have several online calculators we use to determine cable size and requirements over here....that and I have a couple of friendly Inspectors to consult for difficult situations if I don't know the answers. I would share the calculators, but they are setup for Metric cable sizings and Aust/NZ conditions....so probably not much use to you. Here's a snapshot of what one looks like....
...and here's me with one of my friendly Inspectors....

Building inspection - there was a building here - it was just made larger
- "thought" that it was grandfathered and no needed ( it is also unincorporated area )
Apparently not so . . . call the building inspector that comes out and views the building
He's impressed - says I don't see a problem . . . go get a building permit downtown - OK !
Go downtown - get in line to get my building permit . . . she asks - where your zoning permit ?
UH - what ? ?
Go next door and get your zoning permit . . .okay . . .
Go next door - ask about getting a zoning permit - ok - do you have well and septic there ?
Yes . . . hands me a piece of paper - call these people and get a well/septic assessment . . .
Call them . . . they give me a website with 10 pages of items that need to be done.
- near the end - you have to call 811 and get all your power lines marked FIRST . . .
Call them - they will be out in 3 days - latest . . . show up on day 3 - mark the wires
( P.S. - NO where even CLOSE to the septic ( and I knew that ) . . .
I'll submit this - and my boss will take up to 2 weeks to reply ? ? ? 2 Weeks ? ? ?
Sheesh . . .
Finally - get that approved, back downtown, to get the zoning permit . . .
How tall is the building - 18 feet -ish . . . it needs to be 20' from the back property line
- and 10 feet from the side property line . . . ( I think I'm covered )
Finally get the zoning permit - go next door and get the building permit.
Call the inspector back - got my permit - can you come out and inspect the building now ?
Busy today - how about Monday - I'll have to take time off work on Monday to meet with you.
He ends up showing up that day - inspects the building - passes everything.
Spent a week working on electrical stuff - to get ready for spray foam insulation . . .
- was supposed to be done 2 weeks ago - got delayed and pushed to last Friday . . .
- last Friday - got delayed - and pushed to NEXT Friday . . .
So that's where we now stand - spray foam ( 3/4 of the building on Friday )
- then I have to empty the last part of the shop - and have them back to finish it.
Got this knee wall don on the other side of the upstairs . . . and got outlets installed too.
This is how the stuff will get UP there into the shop . . . got the doors hung on the hinges . . .
Turned out pretty good - got a bit of work to do to get them to open/close smoothly . . .
But they can be opened and closed . . . wit a bit of effort . . .
Getting ready to get started on the lean-to the will be going on the side of the other building - here . . .
Got everything done and ready for spray foam . . . excited to get it done . . .
Then all the sheetrock needs to be installed - and get the final electrical inspection . . . and then get Duke Power
out to hook up my power . . .

Wow, sounds like you dodged a bullet with the permit stuff. If they would have found something they didn't like you could have been in trouble!
I had my township come out to inspect the street related area in order to repave our street. They found a drain I had going through the curb (been there for 25 years). Well, that wasn't legal so it had to be removed. I told them my basement would flood if it was. They didn't care. Anyway, long story short: $16,000 later it is removed and my basement still has an appropriate drain. Ouch! That was a bill I wasn't expecting or wanted!
Back to your place: It looks great and obviously, having passed the inspections, was built well - but we already knew that.

Hurry up and wait, always the way!
I would have bet that Connecticut would have been worse on regulations and permits and inspections. Wow all the hoops to jump through!
