When they first came out in 64 all previous years were able to come to the dealership to get one attached. It was a marriage of the brands! To Chrysler it was not just a small emblem on the right fender...However, I would like to know who actually came up with the idea.
My '63 SF had one on the passenger side. This has been discussed here at length before. Search the forum and you will also find the Chrysler TSB that confirms 1963 as the start.
All I know is I have one on my 68 a and used to wonder why the left front fender didn't have one.......almost put one on until I was advised differently.
The right
fender thing was for advertisement. When a pedestrian walked by and looked down and see the Pentastar, they would know immediately it was a Chrysler product.
