Flex fans

I run the stainless flex fan which which has a good pitch at idle and moves lots of air. As speed increases the blades flatten out and works very well in my opinion and it’s not made of plastic or fiberglass. Blades are riveted to the steel center.
Just my opinion and experience and that’s all.
Simple, low maintenance and it just does what it is supposed to do very well.

I have never heard anything good about Flex fans. What is the general consensus out there? I'm strapped for room and I'm not sure the electric fan I have now 16 inch will do the job Cooling a mild Street 440.

After purchasing a ‘69 Sport Satellite Convertible, that has a swapped stock 440 in it, it had some overheating issues. At highway speeds it stayed cool but after exiting and idling, say at a stop light, the temperature would rocket up. The fan was stock metal with fluid drive. The engine rpm had to be increased to get it to cool down. I thought the fluid drive was bad. There was an aluminum flex fan on the shelf so it was installed. Also the timing was adjusted and the carburetor idle circuit was richen up (I think that was way off). Unfortunately I did everything at once so I’m not 100% sure what did the trick but it’s fine now. I want to switch back to the fluid drive and stock fan and the main reason, and I didn’t see anyone mention it, is that the aluminum blades will cut you like a knife while working around it. At least this one will and that’s my experience. As far as the 16” electric fan it may be worth a try and of course following the electric wire hook up recommendations which includes a thermostat switch. Some things are just a trial. Good luck.

I ran an aluminum flex fan on my Coronet drag car. worked OK. Not sure what it would do on the street. My plastic fan with very large but small diameter blades worked really good with the Moroso electric drive on a drag car. Moved a lot of air. I'm sure the one I had would do really well on the street with a standard drive.

the 7 blade 18" flexalite fan is a great fan & its not cheap junk, about $80, ran one on my Charger with A/C for many years, kept it nice & cool, went to dual electric fans, no change in 1/4 mile times or mph, still 123 mph

Its all the ducting but factory says 18 inch fan lol.
