For all of You Train Lovers

All 3 thoroughfares remained open for the entirety of the project ..... so far.
Hutchinson River Parkway (below), Westchester Ave (surface), NYC transit IRT subway line #6 (above).
Replacement electric, sewer, water, steam, telecom ... all part of the job.
The overpass being replaced contains supports for the elevated trains above. Pretty impressive.

Well, that sucked.

This is the end of the run where the engine unhooks, drives around the cars, backs up to the front of the cars and brings them back to the station. (You can see this in the video in the first post in this thread.)

Looks like someone forgot to throw the switch. How does this happen when it's done many times in one day? Could have been much worse if the boiler was punctured. Complicity at its finest.

@khryslerkid : you hear the "GHOST TRAIN' WHISTLE"? Last ride was 8 yrs ago, grandson was a lil guy at 5. He did like Dutch Wonderland.

I always thought the Hiawatha was a great looking train, no matter the power or the tail car.

I just got done reading the Classic Trains mag special edition on the Burlington Zepher streamliners.
It was pretty darn good.
