Cost/time overruns and political b.s. aside, it's a pretty impressive piece of engineering/construction. 160 ft below Park Avenue, carved into the rock below the existing infrastructure.
Going back in today, I'll see if I can get some pics of the process and the TBM's displayed in the "new" Madison concourse.

Beyer Peacock delivered the first 35 in 1903/04. Between 1905 and 1917 Beyer Peacock built 60 engines while 50 were built at Eveleigh Railway Workshops. Suburban line electrification created a surplus of a valuable class, so between August 1928 and July 1933, 77 were converted to C30T tender 4-6-0 locomotives. Remaining tank locomotives worked suburban services to Cowan, Penrith and Campbelltown as well as Carlingford, Richmond and Camden. They were also used in Newcastle and Wollongong

The historic Chicago & North Western 1385 will return to the Mid-Continent Railway Museum.

A train that has rested in Middleton will soon have a home in North Freedom.
