In 1950, Westinghouse came up with this 4,000 horsepower jet powered locomotive concept nicknamed 'The Blue Goose'. Using two 2,000 hp. gas turbines, it did well in both freight and passenger testing and was geared for 100 mph. But nobody ordered it, so it was scrapped in 1953.
