For all of You Train Lovers

Here in the richest nation, we argue and slow-roll any attempt at high speed rail, eg, Texas, California. China has built 1000s of kilometers, quickly and efficiently. The first high speed train was engineered in Japan for the 1964 Olympics, Tokyo to Osaka. That route is now being upgraded with a 500kph MAGLEV. When I first moved to Misawa Air Base in nothern Japan in 1985, the Shinkansen (new trunk line) went from Tokyo to Morioka, about 2/3 of the way, at 250 kph, or 149 mph. Now the same line extends to Hokkaido, and will eventually reach Sapporo. The line speed has been upgraded, and the duck-bill aerodynamics enable smooth passage thru the many tunnels. Can you convert thespeed to mph?
