I have a 67 charger with a 440 and an MSD pointless distributor. I bypassed the balast resistor like the instructions said. NOW the frustrating part. If i try to start the car with a key it just cranks and occasionally will fire and stay running. If i hot wire the car straight through where the ignition cylinder plugs into the harness it will start right up every time no problem. Any ideas?

Were there 2 wires going to the b/resistor.If so,one was powered in the starting mode and the other was for the run mode.Twist them together to the wire going to the distributor:icon_cheers:

I agree with the above. it sounds like your not getting power to the coil during starting.

sounds like the 12 volt switched wire you have for the coil is not right. find another source.
