Running new hard fuel line from mechanical pump to carb on 1971 Charger with 440. Two questions: 1.) What is the correct path to run the line? In "front" of and "around" the distributor, or "behind" the distributor and "over" the valve cover? I've seen it pictured both ways. Also what is the consensus on fuel filter placement? On the carb side or on the tank side of the pump? Thanks for helping the rookie again.

Behind the distributor and over the intake. The filter is after the pump before the steel line

Aside from the factory putting it there, why not have the filter before the pump? Why let all of those particulates run through it and ruin the diaphragm? Thanks! Sorry for hijacking the thread!!

I have heard that keeping the filter on the tank side can help preserve the mechanical pump, the line pressure is less, and it keeps things looking a little cleaner up top. I'll be running the line behind the distributor and placing the filter tank side. Thanks guys.
