Its just like traveling out of Texas and hitting the Oklahoma border. Time stops
That must have been murderous traveling at 55!
Yes. For fuel economy, you want maximum vacuum advance, prior to spark knock, at a part throttle tip in.
Having the mechanical advance all in earlier will kill mileage because your vacuum advance has to be dialed way back.
LOL, answering the same thing at a minute or so apart.32-34 full mechanical all in by 2800RPM, vacuum +18 for a 50-52 degree full advance.
32* by 2600 rpm, attach the vacuum advance and test for a max of 52*’s.
If you have the adjustable vacuum advance can, it is a 3/32 Allen.
Turn clockwise to decrease timing.
This ^^^^^^As much as you can run without it kicking back on the starter after a short heat soak.
thanks.that is very helpful.i have been trying to tune the distributor on my chevy.it can get frustrating.when i am adjusting the distributor, sometimes it pings, sometimes it doesnt.im learning.i will practice on that before i touch the 'good' car.haha.on a 318 what is an approximate total vacuum advance for cruising?
