I’m 54, my dad had colon cancer in his late 60’s and a large contributor to his passing.
I work for a large oil company and they are always talking about safety and proactive health stuff.
Years ago I went to a safety seminar and a lady from the Louisiana State toxicology lab gave a talk about getting colon checks as a preventative measure against cancer. She talked about sharing this message with large groups of male union craft workers and how the majority of them would not go to get a colonoscopy because of their male pride and not wanting to go “there”.
I heard her message loud and clear: “get checked early, and 60 to 70 percent of the first signs of colon cancer are prevented which, in the long run can, and will, save your life.”
My company also uses WebMD to help us to be proactively healthy by eating right, reducing sodium, exercise, etc, etc. We also get a “health coach”… my initial thought was, this is BS, I don’t have time to talk with a health coach, much less follow any advice they might give… holy hell, I am stressed out enough without having someone telling me what to do. BUT, I did take a minute and tell the health coach if I am completely honest with myself I need to follow some of these “healthy suggestions”. So I did, I told the coach I needed to get a colonoscopy and I had been putting it off for several years, I also needed to get out and exercise a little more… (heavy on the little) LOL.
Well yesterday I had the “big procedure” done, I was a little apprehensive about the results but everything came back perfect. They completely knock you out when it is done so it REALLY WAS NO BIG DEAL, it’s also their job, so they really could care less who it is, or what procedure is being done.
If any of you have been putting this off like I did, get it done! You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to know you’re in good health.
We all gotta have every day, week, month and year to enjoy those bad *** Mopars!
Sorry this was so long but if it gets one person to go get checked then mission accomplished.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
