Poll:
A) bring her back to as close to showroom as we can afford.
B) make a driver out of her so we can enjoy her.

Hi again. After much consternation, we've decided to make a driver out of our '76 Charger Daytona. .
She's pretty well loaded, no SG, T-Tops, or power seats.
400-4, PDL, PS, PW, AC, cruise, tilt

I understand that most folks couldn't give two shits about a '76 Charger, but at least she's not a Kia...

I'm NOT going to be doing the majority of the work. We're leaving that to our good friend William. Many of you know William, he's been a fixture in our Mopar community for decades. And as fate would have it, he knew this Daytona from back in the day. And wrenched on her back then as well.

Our game plan is to get her to DD status, and have all of the options work.

Right now she lot drives. We're needing a turn signal canceling cam, drivers taillight bucket, fuel tank cleaned out.
Down the road, we want to convert her to a power bench seat and column shift with cruise/tilt.

We'll get pics up as soon...

If it's drivable, keep it going. You can do various fixes and upgrades without much downtime.

Lets see some pics. Don't see many 76 Daytonas

Always wanted one. Best late 70s car.

I say clean it up and get it running and driving with what it has and see what it needs. Dont just take it all apart with the intention of a concours resto, and never get it back on the road. It should be a fun car to drive with that 400.

I had a triple pickle '76 360-2 back in the day.
I really liked that car. Since the subframe biscuits were shot, I sold her.
I was told that our Daytona has the wrong grill.

She's got 3.55's in her. I want to buy a 9 1/4 SG, and probably a sub .484 cam. I have no delusions of getting her in the 12's, but I'd like her to be able to cover a '91 Hyundai lol

My vote-

Driver first, then make better as you go.

Anyone have a Cordoba or Charger of this era for parts? We're not opposed to getting a parts car(s).

Wth a low compression engine like that 400, the MP cam would not be a wise choice. Sound cool but no poop. Maybe get ahold of Hughes for that. Mopar only and one of our site sponsors.

GREAT CAR! I had a 400-4bbl 77 Cordoba. Check here and www.moparts.com and EBay. The tail light might be hard to find (?). It looks like a Dodge Magnum tail light (?). I’m not sure about your grill.

It’s a major job to install a bench & column shift. A 440 will drop right in. Headers are available. I broke my 9-1/4”. I’d suggest a 8-3/4”. I think (?) the width of a 68-70 (or earlier) B-body is just about the same

Post a WTB ad and see what happens.

Also, AMS Obsolete in Fairmont, Georgia has B body parts car. Maybe 4 hours away from you?

Im off to look up "consternation" in the dictionary.

I don't see cam specs?

A mild to moderate bump should be OK.

400 has a big, oversquare bore and should flow well if given the chance.

The B 400 is an incredibly underrated Mopar engine.

Great start to a cool driver, 400's deliver just fine with free flowing exhaust and a properly functioning Thermoquad. Don't see many of these , they are an under rated touring car that is really enjoyable to drive.

We've got a 8 3/4 out of a C-Body, and one out of a '65-'67 B-Body.
We should be have a running 440.
Is it going to just be easier to find a bench/column Cordoba instead of changing this Charger over?
