Headliner question/help for front trim

Ok so how does the 6 clips go in for the trim piece? Do I cut the headliner were they go or just push them in? Will they be some what loose or tight? Thanks for any help,this weekend project.

Dave, I'm glad you're ahead me in the process. I'm watching your progress & questions.
 
I wish I never would have taken those stupid brackets off...no matter what I tried I couldn't get them to relock back in with any confidence. Didn't want to chance them falling out later, once the windshield is in, you're blocked out.
I ended up running a screw in to hold them good.

Those clips look like the ones on my 65 Belvedere. I modified the clips and installed nut serts and 10-32 screws to retain them.

Bringing this thread back to life...Has anyone been able to find these front headliner clips? Year One, Classic Ind, Junkyard Dodge, etc. don't have them.

I can't remember if you squeeze or expand the tabs to get them tight but you will see how they go.
