Hemi Orange 72 Rallye Charger

Got another haul from Classic Industries today. Actually it's been sitting at UPS for over a week. I paid extra to change my delivery date.

Headliner glue and tool, 71-72 B Body plug kit, 71-72 Charger sail panels, and a steering coupler seal kit. ( not a fan of the orange seal)

How much were those sail panals? I got mint org ones I didn't know they made them.

I've seen the panels for $249 including the insulation. You can also just buy the insulation from DMT.
Think they are currently only producing black.

Cheaper then what I payed ! Oh well maybe next time

Update:
I got the inside of the roof prepped and coated with KBS 3 step rust seal system. The left over 2" foam really was useful during this process. With the inside stripped, the floors are not very good to sit on for long periods of time.

I started with a wire wheel on an angle grinder and then used a scotch bright with the KBS Klean. Then blast. The instructions say to rinse with water after each step. I used a squirt bottle with water. And whipped with towels. Then I let it dry over night.
I spent most of the day painting it. You have to wait 2 hours between coats. I didn't take a before picture. But here's what it looks like now.

Next is the insulation.

Then the headliner.

Pretty nervous about it but I'm sure it will work out.

Wow looks good I've never attempted a headliner since I butchered one when I was younger you have notes on placement of bars ?

Yes. Idk if they were ever taken out prior to when I took them out. The original headliner was completely ripped out. But her it is

Sweet thanks .
Now I just have to find my bows I have two out of 4 God knows where the other two are

Well the verdict is in on the new Classic Industries sail panels: they are perfect! Comes with insulation and new clips for the corners. Only wish they had the seals for around the window opening. I was able to get the seal on the driver's side off and put on the new one, but the passenger seal tore on me .
Anyone know where to get the seals?

I'm certain they came in the window seal kit I got ! Kit has inners and outers I'll see what brand my kit was

Been kickin the can around getting the nerve up to do the next job. Floor pans. I really just drive and enjoy this thing. I realize my skills and wallet won't put me anywhere near most of the projects that others are doing on here, but just rollin down the street would make me super happy.
I tried to do just a small patch where there were a few holes. The holes were a little bigger than a pencil eraser. After cutting out a small piece to patch in, the air saw shook some more holes around the surrounding area I just cut out.

So I made the cut bigger, same thing. So I decided to get some pans off Rock Auto.

Sherman's brand. It has a dimple above the hole that's not in the original pan. I think I read that 71&72's are different than 73&74's. So maybe these are the later ones?? Idk. I could have gone the AMD route, but I can't afford that right now. So here goes nothing.

The torsion support had sandy dirt in it. I dug it out with a flat screwdriver. Same with the torque box. Then blew it out with compressed air.

I've decided to cut it short of the front seem, because the seem is perfect.
I had to quit for tonight and get some self tapping screws. So I will post a picture when it's all burned in.

Recieved new rear upper door panel's. They were on back order and took 6 weeks to get. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to transfer the metal from the original panel's. But I think I will be able to get them transferred ok. I will post my process on that later.

I haven't got much more done with the floor's. Been procrastinating I guess. I got the driver's side pretty much ready to weld in. Final cuts were made with the patch panel screwed down. I then drilled for the plug welds . I had to use a dremel and drill with a cutoff wheel because my body saw blades from harbor freight are useless after cutting about 2 inches.

Also don't loan out your welding helmet. My friend spent a year in commercial diving and underwater welding school in Florida. He needed a helmet to take tests for certification. Guess they didn't teach that welding creats heat and don't place your equipment on top of hot metal... lol

bought some 2k epoxy primer in a rattle can, along with some weld thru primer. The 2k has a pot life of 4 days after its activated, so I want to get both passenger and driver's side ready before I coat them in epoxy.
I have read mixed reviews on the weld thru primer. Some say that manufacturer's have gotten away from it because study's have shown that it doesn't work and in some cases accelerate corrosion. So idk what to think about that. I may contact a body shop and ask them about it.

Got the patches put in and finished up the 2k 3M seam sealer on the top side. Have yo get some more to do the bottom.

Haven't done a whole lot since my last post.

Finished up the rear upper door panels.

For some reason there was a bunch of drilled holes in the driver's side rear.

Blasted the frames.

Epoxy primer on the frames.

Flattened the flowers. Used a small chisel and then hammer and dolly.

Pop riveted and then glued the new Legendary door panel to the frame.
