I've been hanging on to, and lugging around a 440 block for several years, now. I found it at an estate sale when I was living in Florida. The now deceased gentleman was a Mopar guy (probably still is), and the bare block was in his shop, sitting on the floor. While I was looking at it, the daughter told me that all she knows is it's a 440, and that if I want it, I could have it for $25! I had always wanted a car with a 440 in it, and figured the block would be a heck of a good start, so I bought it. I finally took the block to a machine shop a couple of weeks ago to be checked out, and am currently waiting on the verdict.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to rescue a '73 Charger I happened across that resides in a nearby state.
Factory black paint w-black (wasted) interior. It originally had a 400 motor, but it's long gone. Luckily, for me, the owner has another 400 motor to go with the car, giving me a backup option should the 440 turn out to be bad.
The car is definitely going to be a project. The pans will all have to be replaced, but the upper body, other than some dents, seems to look fairly solid. At least in the pictures it does.
Okay, I'll stop rambling. I'm just a little excited about it all, and wanted to share with some like minded folks.
Thanks for having me. - bottlebum
P.S. Please forgive all punctuation and grammatical errors ...
