hey guys i just bought myself a 1968 plymouth sport satellite, When i lock my door by hand on the drivers side and close it to the body the door unlocks. The key does not work in the cylinder, i can turn it both left and right and it does nothing. If i lock the door from the inside it dose not unlock unless i open it by hand. What could be the culprit.

Remove the door panel and take a look. Before internet forums, people just opened their factory service manual and figured it out. You are smart enough to operate the computer, you can do this.
MAYBE the linkage is bent or missing.
All my old Mopars require the lock to be set with the door closed. If the door is open and I push the lock knob button it always pops back up when I close the door.
You can ask all sorts of questions but the best way to learn is to open it up and get your eyes on it.

Most of them will pop the lock up when you close the door.
If it won't unlock when you open the door from the inside, or with the key, it's possible the linkage has come off of the key mechanism. Worse case scenario, the key mechanism has broke.
Good luck.

It won't lock unless you use the key, a feature so you could not lock your keys inside.

I bet the little arm came off the lock, but as stated, ya gotta pull the door panel to see what's going on.

Something came apart, I'm sure you'll find it rolling around in the door

Hey guys found my problem it's missing the linkages in the both doors. So that something I'll have to buy. One thing at a time.

Glad you found the problem. It's way worse if you get locked out of the car - not that that's a problem in these cars.

Chrysler didn't have the ability to lock the lock and close the door and have it stay locked until 1971. Even when you get your mechanism parts, you will need to lock with the key.

Hey thanks guys for all the good positive help. Im not worried about locking my self out since it a convertible I always leave the top down. Unless I pull a Peter Griffen and lock my self in the car with the keys on the ground outside. :P.
