How do aftermarket sway bars mount and should I weld this closed?

I'm not real comfortable with the way this sway bar is mounted to the K frame.

How do others do it?

I have a factory small block bar, but this one's a lot larger.

Still, I don't feel it's working very well.

I see the missing and degraded bushings, but it's tightened down and doesn't move.

The bushings on the stabilizer bars are new.

Still have lots of body roll.

Pic 2- I noticed this poor weld on the K, under the ISO bushing.

Should I try to weld it closed?

That does not look right at all to me. Which car is this on?

73 Satellite.

I have a bar from a 74 Charger.

I'm 99% sure it will work, but this aftermarket bar is super thick.

I also have the mate to this aftermarket bar on the rear.

Just looking for other mount setups for aftermarket bars.

I also have a 72 big block bar but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that car yet, so using that is plan C or D at this time.

I don't know if this will help you, but here are some shots from my 73 Roadrunner, the fronts are original mount points on the car, and after looking at my setup, it would seem that the front mount point on your car for the stabilizer is a bit low, as you can see in this picture where the section is welded in on my car it sits higher.

For the rear, I used the stock body mount plates that go around the frame rail, and the sway bar plates on the axle assembly, however, the rest of this is from Firm Feel because I could not find stock replacement bushings. The only issue I had using this was the mounts to the frame rail and on the bar, had to be shimmed because there was not enough compression on the bushings, which are poly, and need lube to keep from squeaking.

Here is a shot of that.

Hope this helps you get some solutions.

I'll look at mine again this evening.

I think that factory location is outside the frame rails.

I don't think you can see that area from the pic I posted.

I might be thinking of my factory 66 bar, that bolts to the front of the K frame.

Great.

That's twice now I wish I hadn't sold the shell of that 74 :(

Wow, I don't have that p[late at all.

Doesn't look like there was ever one there either.
