How many gallons in a 1/4 tank of gas?

Fuel grade / temperature/ blends /all change the weight per gallon.

There are 7.48 pounds / gallon of fuel. Measure the thank's weight (net weight) divide by 7.48 pounds/ gallon = number of gallons.......just a thought.......
BOB RENTON
It's installed I believe?

Way wrong for gasoline.

Its nice to know you got 5 gallon left when its on empty. Thats about all I would be concerned with. Its a gauge not an instrument.

If it's incorrect, what is the number? A few tenths either way is not significant. Density and octane will vary slightly so weigh will weght vary slightly.......what's your calculation?......
BOB RENTON
Sorry Bob but we aren't getting into the molecular structure and atomic weight of gasoline. :BangHead: :BangHead:

You're a bright guy. Figure it out yourself.

No, Bobby. Not even close.

Just for fun....

18 gallon tank? A 1/4 would be 4 1/2 g. It should be moving towards 3/4 of a tank with 3 gallons gone.

If life were perfect yes... but i had read somewhere that the gauge on some tanks doesn't start dropping at all til gallons are gone.. didn't know if anyone knew bout that is all.. i will just keep mine topped up :)

Does yours go a little past full? I have had cars that stayed solidly on the full mark for a while then started wiggling and the fuel got used. As long as it tells you when you are near empty all is good.

Mine stops at full.. and eventually will start wiggling and dropping a little. I would rather have it hit empty way early than play this guessing game :) I will just have to use a bit of gas and see how it goes.. when i put the 3 gallons in and thought it would be at like 1/2 tank i was surprised.. i thought i had used a lot more gas.

I was surprised that my 64 is fairly accurate. It does have a new tank but no idea whether it has the original sender or not. I have driven it to less than a 1/4 and put in 15 gal. so that is just about right.

yeah.. i am curious what milage my car is getting.. i need a satellite odometer to go with the sat speedometer :) When i switch gears i will hook the speedo back up. I think cause the street demon has such small primaries and at 50 i'm barely on the gas it's not using as much as i expected

I checked mine and am around 15. I would like to take it for a 3 or 4 hour round trip at 55-60 and see if I could get a little closer to 20. I haven't even checked what rear gear I have in. Probably 3.23 but just a guess. I haven't checked to see if I have the early rear end or even Sure Grip. No need to jack it up and crawl underneath unless I absolutely have to.
