How many gallons in a 1/4 tank of gas?

If the fuel gauge was linear it is easy to calculate but it's not.

I have a '64 Polara500. I drained the gas tank completely. The fuel gauge
sender was factory and still worked. Empty read all the way down. 5 gal.
read exactly on 1/4. They are not linear! From1/4 it goes down FAST.
I would siphon it dry and 1 gal at a time for at least 5 gal.

There are 7.48 pounds / gallon of fuel. Measure the thank's weight (net weight) divide by 7.48 pounds/ gallon = number of gallons.......just a thought.......

Looked it up on Google and several sources estimated that a gallon of unleaded 87 octane gasoline weighs an average of 6.1 lbs. Several factors can increase or decrease its weight slightly.
