Overlooked but now added. Hell I counted the timing chain and everything that touches it but forgot to add the cam lol.I would say you're doing darned good, but where is the Camshaft ?

I was merely joking. Now you are making it complicated. Lets just say a Stock Long Block.
Well here is a start to the question asked. I think I have a lot of this correct. But I know I missed a few items. I was bored... So here ya go.

Now we are getting nit picky. lol Lifters come in a box of 16. As far as the internals of components of like the carb, starter and oil pump... Well more nit picking...how many parts in each lifter? each valve spring assbemly? in the oil pump? i'll stick with 3
On my count, I was over 300.Well here is a start to the question asked. I think I have a lot of this correct. But I know I missed a few items. I was bored... So here ya go. Revised for easier counting...

You don't open up a new oil pump and at least check the clearance on the rotor? I didn't either until I got a newly rebuilt engine in my shop because it lost oil pressure within 100 miles and dug in to see what the cause was and found a tiny piece of casting stuck in the bottom of the rotor against the end plate. The pump had .001" clearance and that's too tight. It should be .002 at minimum. Someone didn't clean the block before assembly. I thought it was a bit strange that the filter didn't catch it but it could have come from the oil pump itself. I made pretty good money on that job but it also taught be to debur that new oil pump too.Now we are getting nit picky. lol Lifters come in a box of 16. ... and you wondered why your engine wouldn't run....but forgot to add the cam lol.
