I have a stock 1968 Superbee 383/727 and the radiator is not flowing good. I am going to get an aftermarket one for now. So how many rows does the stock one have? 22" is what I have with a stock fan.

Suggestions for an aftermarket? Thanks Jim

A 22" aluminum 2 row radiator with 2 1" rows will cool better than a 4 row copper/brass.

i put a 3 row champion in my 383 road runner. what a world of difference. i highly suggest one!

Yeah, it'd never in a million years run hot with a 3 row aluminum. Neither with a two row, long as you get the right one. One thing to watch out for on the two row if you decide to go that route. Make DANG SURE that the rows are either 1" or 1.25" wide. If they don't specify, they might just be the stock width of 3/8". Even most of the three rows like dog was talkin about are wider than stock, usually like 9/16 or 5/8 wide. But the two rows are not equal. Read the fine print to be sure and if it ain't there, don't buy it.

4 row 26" copper in the Coronet. Cool. No need for aluminium. Clutch fan, shroud. You know, the sutff produced over 40 years ago STILL WORKS. Green coolant still works too.

Nobody's debatin it. We're just answerin his question since he DID say he was goin aftermarket.

What do you think about this one? Moves 2500 CFM 369.00 or would just the normal fan be fine? Thanks for all of the replys

Just in time with this thread - I think I'll need a new radiator when I swap my 360 small block out for the 451. I currently have my stock 22" and it works great. I know some of the 383's came stock with 22" also.

Do I NEED to go to 26" with a 451 (400 block short deck bored .030 over with 440 crank)?

If it's between 3 row and 4 row, is 3 row is the way to go?

The majority consensus I've heard over the last 10 yrs is that the aluminum aftermarket rads won't cool much better and sometimes worse, than our original rads. I guess it depends on the manufacturer though. I know I can't just discount all aluminum rads altogether. I just need a new rad due to my big block swap.

I just received the new Classic Industries catalog and they show replacement radiators for B bodies both 3 row (26", part # MB2370) and 4 row (26", part # 2383), both are copper tubes that are 1/2" diameter on 9/16" centers. Either of these good?

Go with the absolute biggest CORE SIZE you can fit in between the fenders.

I thought you'd say that! haha

To fit the 26" it looks like I need to do some car body mods under the hood to mount it, right?

So 3 row instead of 4 row should be good?

Didn't the 26' radiator come only on the ac cars??

Yeah I think the 26 was optional. I'm gonna use a crossflow on mine. Widest that'll go between the frame rails. PERIOD. I don't give a damn about drillin holes. It's goin in. One thing It ain't gonna do is overheat.

26" for A/C STOCK

I own two factory A/C 69 & 70 Roadrunners and both came with 26" Radiator standard. Part of A/C cooling package...
