Don I feel for you I know how it is my oldGerman Shepard passed away not to long ago and it still hurts and the worse part is I only owned him for a little over a year ,I truly don't know how I'll be if one of my other dogs passed (I've raised the rest from pups)I don't even want to think about it .
By the way on a better note my (black) German Shepard is home now his surgery was a success he is now an it and as we were getting in the car a good looking lady Shepard came around the corner two days ago he would have been trying today he looked at me the got into the car ,I feltbad so we stopped at the pet store and he got to pick out a few bones for later .
